Tanya Perkins is a lecturer of English and coordinator of the Creative Writing program at Indiana University East, where she teaches composition, professional/technical and fiction writing.  She earned an MA at Western Washington University and an MFA at Murray State University.  Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous journals, including The Raleigh Review, Big Muddy, Wilderness House Literary Review, Certain Circuits, Arcadia, Emrys and others.  Her short story, “The Nature of Breakage,” was a Pushcart nominee and “Imaginary Beasts” was a finalist for the Nisqually Prize in fiction.  She is currently working on a collection of interlinked short stories.

Research interests include creative writing assessment, online resume-writing processes and service learning methods in the professional writing classroom.
