About

Originally from Canada, I earned my BA and MA, both in English Studies, from Western Washington University, in beautiful Bellingham, WA, and my MFA in fiction from Murray State University, in Murray, KY. Currently, I live in eastern Indiana where I’m associate professor and chair of the English department at Indiana University East. My writing and research encompass short fiction, creative writing studies, digital writing, electronic literature and program assessment. I’m addicted to the short story, one of the most powerful and fascinating prose forms and lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about intersections between visual art and fiction.

When I’m not writing, reading or teaching (or doing the 1,001 tasks related to running an academic department), I love running, gardening, knitting–and travel! In Fall 2023, my husband and I hiked the Camino de Santiago through northern Spain, a tough but rewarding trek!
